Subb-an continues to develop his One Records platform, adapting and moulding alongside stylistic shifts in modern minimal whilst also maintaining a high degree of quality control.

Central to this successful adaptation has been the carefully selected roster of artists he works with; some old friends, some new - but always artists whose work reflect the contents of his own record bag: neatly reduced tunes aimed squarely at the dance floor.

ONE049 is another in a series of VA releases on the label featuring Yamen & Eda, Leeds based Mariiin, Ciel, NorthSouth owner Sam Bangura, Duowe & Picasso, and Subb-an himself.

Montpelier based duo Yamen & EDA are no strangers to the label. They make their return with 'Cut The Cheese' - a combination of tight drums, Detroit-tinged synths and a circling organ bass.

Mariiin then follows up with a kinetic tool evincing her skills as a seasoned and well respected DJ. Tumbling breaks are pinned by a 4/4 kick while interweaving sweeps and filters recall the atmosphere of some of the Swag classics.

London favourite Sam Bangura then follows on from his recent solo EP on Albeit Records with a sharp, Minimal groove that will slot nicely into his own sets as trippy, dissected vocals and flickering atmospherics dart over synth sweeps and a jagged bass line.

Subb-an's contribution then takes the form of a burley, peak-time cut. Masterful arrangement, thick drums and a buoyant sub are amalgamated with effective simplicity.

Next up is Xi'an born Ciel. Ciel is a bastion for inclusivity with an impressive and ever-developing catalogue of music. So far she has released on Shanti Celeste's Peach Discs, Ghostly International and has collaborated with D.Tiffany on Planet Euphorique. This in combination with the running of her own events platform 'Work in Progress', her own label Parallel Minds and her inclusion in the LGBTQIA+ DJ collective Discowoman all demonstrate her ability to turn her hand to many different disciplines. Here, for One Records she offers up a hefty, Hessle-esque track which combines rattling percussion written in collaboration with Kilig, a stuttered, intricate flow and heart-wrenching melodies.

Finally - London based Duowe & Picasso then bring the VA to a close with a pacy, light-hearted floor filler which will no doubt appeal to fans of Gene On Earth, Youandewan and alike
